Hedge Fund Marketing

Hedge fund marketing is a critical element for any new hedge fund. Hedge fund managers rely heavily on marketing and promotion to attract investors to their funds. Even after a fund becomes popular some level of marketing or advertising is required to attract new investors. However, unlike most other businesses, private hedge funds are faced with marketing and promoting restrictions.

Unlike mutual funds or investment companies, private hedge funds which are not registered with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission are required to only attract "accredited investors" to their funds. In order to remain private and unregistered they cannot market their fund or funds performance to the general public due to the fact that most people would not qualify as an accredited investor.
